Cats head to Alex Wilson Invitational, Florida Fast Times Meets

The Kentucky track and field teams will get a final chance to meet NCAA qualifying times at the Alex Wilson Invitational and the Florida Fast Times Meet on March 5-6, 2004. Kris Landers, Jean Balan and Paul Ciurlys will head to South Bend, Ind., for the Alex Wilson Invitational while senior Caitlin Phillips will try to improve her times in Gainesville, Fla.

Both Ciurlys and Phillips have already provisionally qualified for the championships, which will be held March 12-13 in Fayetteville, Ark. Ciurlys is coming off an eighth-place finish at the SEC Championships, where he finished the 800-meter run in a season-best 1:49.69. Phillips had a successful weekend at the conference championships as well, taking first in the 5,000 meters and second in the 3,000-meter run. She has provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in both events.
