Rock Hill, (S.C.) ? Kentucky baseball?s final game in the Coca Cola Classic in Rock Hill, S.C., was cancelled after three-and-a-half innings because of rain. Kentucky led Maryland, 2-1, at the time of the cancellation. The game does not count in statistical data.
Day one of the tourney had no shortage of drama, as both games were decided in the final inning. Kentucky defeated Kent State, 3-2, in the opening game when Casey Gilvin singled with two outs in the ninth to score John Shelby from second base. The nightcap saw Winthrop?s Matt Matkovich deliver a two-out two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth as the host Eagles came from behind to beat Maryland, 7-6.
