The 18th-ranked University of Kentucky men?s tennis team (4-2) returns to competition Sunday at 1 p.m. when the Cats take on Florida Gulf Coast University in Naples, Fla. The match appears to be the first outdoor dual-match on the young season, weather permitting.
Sunday?s match marks the second Kentucky match at FGCU in as many seasons. The Cats hung a 5-2 loss on FGCU on Mar. 14, 2003. The return to Naples represents a homecoming for UK juniors Evan Austin and Jesse Witten. Austin starred at Barron Collier H.S. in Naples, while Witten won two consecutive state singles titles at Naples? Lely H.S.
Sunday?s match is Kentucky?s first since its three-match stint last weekend at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Seattle. The Cats defeated Boise State after falling to UCLA and Harvard.
