The Kentucky track and field team will close out regular season action at the Iowa State Classic on Feb. 13-14 in Ames, Iowa. The meet marks the last competition for UK before the Cats will host the Southeastern Conference Championships Feb. 27-29 at the Nutter Field House.
The Cats are coming off a successful weekend at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational and the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. Four Cats provisionally qualified for the NCAA?s over the weekend, including impressive performances from Jeff Chakouian in the shot put and David Freeman in the mile run. Chakouian hit an NCAA mark last week for the second consecutive meet with a toss of 63-01.50. Freeman was impressive as well, running the mile in 4:01.47, less than a half second off his personal best time and provisionally qualifying the junior for the championships.
