Kentucky midfielder Jamal Shteiwi has been named to the NSCAA/adidas All-Great Lakes Region team for the second-consecutive season. Shteiwi was named second-team All-Region after receiving third-team recognition in 2002.

The Cincinnati, Ohio, native led the Wildcats with 23 points, including a school-record 13 assists. The junior was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Year this season after leading the league in assists and assists per game. Shteiwi finished the season tied for 10th in the NCAA in assists per game with a 0.62 average.

Kentucky finished with a 12-7-2 record and fell in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to the Indiana Hoosiers, 2-1, in double overtime. Indiana went on to capture the 2003 College Cup Championship with a 2-1 win over St. John?s on Sunday.

The NSCAA/adidas Great Lakes Region team features three teams of 11 players each and is voted upon by region coaches. Shteiwi?s honor marks the fourth consecutive season a Wildcat has made the All-Great Lakes Region team. UK players have received All-Region recognition for 11 straight years, dating back to when Kentucky played in the Mid East Region from 1993-1999.
