After back-to-back 20-point performances Helm was named UK’s first Player of the Week since 2000.

Senior center SeSe Helm was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for her back-to-back 20-point performances and a combined 19 rebounds in Kentucky’s first two games.

Helm, a native of Bowling Green, Ky., helped lead Kentucky to a 2-0 start in Mickie DeMoss’s first season as head coach with wins over IPFW and Northwestern. She charted her ninth career double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds in UK’s season opener vs. IPFW and followed that performance with 20 points and nine rebounds vs.Northwestern.

Helm is shooting 60.7 percent from the floor and is averaging 20 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

With her 40 points in two games, Helm tied Karen Mosely at No. 16 on UK’s all-time scoring list, totaling 1,135 career points.

This is Helm’s first Player of the Week honor and the first for a UK player since 2000.
