The Wildcats tune-up for the 2004 season with exhibition, Saturday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky gymnastics team is set to hold its annual Blue-White scrimmage, Saturday, Nov. 22, at 6 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum. The Wildcats return eight letter winners from last season, including 2002 All-American Aronda Primault.

“We’re very excited about our Blue-White scrimmage this year,” said first year head coach Hajile “Mo” Muhammad. “Everyone has been working hard in practice and we’re anxious to see how we perform in front of an audience in a competitive atmosphere.”

Primault led the Wildcats on vault, beam and all-around last season, and Muhammad expects her to have an outstanding senior campaign.

“Aronda is a phenomenal all-around gymnast,” Muhammad said. “She is the team co-captain and is leading by example.”

UK’s other co-captain is junior Michelle Gales who was Kentucky’s top performer in the floor exercise in 2003. Muhammad will rely on Primault, Gales and senior Julie Joy to provide leadership to a relatively young UK squad that features two sophomores, a redshirt freshman and four outstanding freshmen.

At the conclusion of the meet, fans will have the opportunity to meet the team, get autographs and ask the gymnasts questions. Pizza and drinks also will be provided for all spectators.
