Wildcats Enter Postseason with Third Consecutive SEC Tournament Bid

The Kentucky volleyball team will play in the postseason for the third consecutive season as it travels to Columbia, S.C., this week for the 2003 Southeastern Conference Tournament. The Cats have earned the No.8-seed in the single-elimination event and will face top-seeded Florida on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Volleyball Competition Center on the South Carolina campus.

The Wildcats finished the SEC regular season with a 6-10 record, tying them for sixth place in the league standings with South Carolina and LSU, but took the eighth seed after tiebreakers. UK dropped both of its final conference matches with a 3-2 loss to Georgia and a 3-0 sweep by Florida just five days ago.

Senior Sissy Canfield continues to lead Kentucky, hitting .335 on the season while averaging 3.02 kills per game and 0.87 blocks per contest. The Blue Springs, Mo. native looks to finish her career at UK next week in the top-10 for career hitting percentage, kills and block assists.

Also playing in their final SEC Tournament are Liz McCaslin and Julie Davis. All three of Kentucky?s seniors were honored in a special pre-game Senior Day ceremony last Sunday.
