LEXINGTON — The University of Kentucky rifle team (No. 2 College Rifle Coaches Association) completed a sterling weekend with victories over No. 3 Jacksonville State, No. 9 Army and No. 12 Morehead State at UK?s Buell Armory. On Saturday, the Cats defeated Jacksonville State, 6210-6181, while Sunday?s Kentucky score of 6202 was enough to outlast Army?s 6145 and Morehead State?s 5959. Kentucky?s Bradley Wheeldon led all competitors on the weekend with an aggregate score of 1581 in Saturday?s match against Jacksonville State.
The Cats improve to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the Great American Rifle Conference. Kentucky meets five-time defending NCAA champion Alaska-Fairbanks next Saturday, Nov. 22 in Lexington. The Cats and the top-ranked Nanooks will do battle beginning at 8 a.m.
