The University of Kentucky men?s swimming & diving team has claimed the No. 21 spot in the latest rankings released by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The Cats? earned their place in the poll upon victories over then-No. 21 Indiana and Louisville two weeks ago.
A number of Wildcats are featured prominently on several top 50-times lists. Junior Daniel Cruz?s time of 1:47.64 in the 200-yard butterfly is good for fourth in the nation. Cruz also claims the 25th-fastest time in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:39.74. Sophomore Daniel Farnham holds the 22nd-fastest time in the 50-yard freestyle at 20.78 and the 25th-fastest time in the 100-yard freestyle at 45.69.
A couple of Cats are running neck-and-neck in the 200-yard individual medley. Junior Jerram Chudleigh?s time of 1:52.75 gives him the No. 24 spot in the event, while sophomore Steven Manley follows one spot behind at No. 25 with a time of 1:52.80. Chudleigh also owns the 31st-fastest time in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:50.25, and Manley claims the No. 31 spot in the 1000-yard freestyle at 9:25.84. As a team, the Kentucky men come in at No. 23 in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:04.95) and No. 41 in the 400-yard medley relay (3:28.05).
On the women?s side, UK sophomore Laura Graham holds the 34th-fastest time this season in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:20.05.
