Cats move to 3-1
LEXINGTON ?- The University of Kentucky rifle team returned to its winning ways Sunday afternoon with a 6220-6190 victory over Murray State. Bradley Wheeldon led the Cats with an 1176 in smallbore and a 392 in air rifle for an aggregate of 1568. Murray State’s Morgan Hicks led all shooters with an aggregate of 1572.
UK Coach Harry Mullins was pleased by his Cats’ performance.
“Everyone is clicking along well. It was nice to see the consistency of the first team, though we would like the numbers to be higher across the board. Our work ethic was on full display this weekend, and I’m really proud of our kids.”
Mullins was especially thrilled by the support garnered by his Cats this weekend.
“This was our parents’ weekend and we had a lot of really supportive people, parents and faculty, especially, who took the chance to see us. It was great to see the nice turnout.”
The Cats will take some time off before preparing for a weekend visit from Morehead State, Army and Jacksonville State. Mullins is looking forward to the challenge.
“Those are three quality programs and there will not be a pushover in any of those matches. We must be ready to compete next weekend if we expect to be successful against those programs.”
