Doubles pairs advance

UK freshmen Joelle Schwenk and Caroline Winebrenner each advanced to the finals of their respecrtive brackets Saturday at the SEC Coaches’ Classic in Peachtree City, Ga. Schwenk claimed a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Auburn’s Sarah Suitor while Winebrenner scored a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Ayako Suzuki of South Carolina.

Schwenk also teamed up with Sarah Foster to advance to the semifinals of the “A” doubles bracket with a 8-4 win over Tennessee’s Majen Immenk and Melissa Schaub and a 9-8(5) victory over Mississippi State’s Marcelle Hirt and Magdi Rekasi. Lara Maurer and Christine Simpson advanced to the semifinals of the “B” doubles bracket with a 8-2 win over Auburn’s Ashley Cowart and Nancy Peaden.

The SEC Fall Coaches Classic concludes Sunday afternoon.
