KENT, Ohio ? University of Kentucky senior men?s soccer player, Chris Austin, was named to the 2003 Academic All-District IV University Division Men?s Soccer Team, announced by CoSIDA. Austin is a journalism major from Marietta, Ga., with a 3.759 cumulative GPA and aspirations of becoming a sports commentator.

In 2002, Austin was named an East Region Scholar All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and received his second consecutive selection to the Mid-American Conference Honor Roll.

The Kentucky defender also excels on the playing field as well as in the classroom. Austin has started in 55 of 70 matches as a Wildcat and has played an integral roll on Kentucky?s defense unit which recorded nine shutouts in the regular season and only allowed 11 goals. UK went 6-0-0 in the MAC during the regular season and became the first team in conference history to not relinquish a goal in conference play.

The No. 28 ranked Wildcats have the 10th best goals against average among NCAA Division I programs at 0.65.

UK enters the MAC Tournament this weekend as the top seed for the second time in three years. On Sunday Nov. 9, Kentucky will face the winner of the Bowling Green-Northern Illinois match which takes place Friday at 3 p.m. in Bowling Green, Ohio.
