Georgia hosts Wolverines Saturday at 1 p.m.
ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia men’s swimming and diving team will return to action Saturday, Nov. 8, as it hosts seventh-ranked Michigan at 1 p.m. at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens.
The Bulldogs are 3-0 on the season, including a 1-0 mark against Southeastern Conference opponents. The Wolverines are 2-0 on the season, including a 125-118 win against No. 6 Florida last weekend. Michigan won the 400y free relay — the final event of the meet — to earn the victory.
Before heading to Athens on Saturday, the Wolverines will take on defending national champion Auburn on the Plains Friday, Nov. 7.
The Georgia men are 2-2 in the series history with Michigan dating back to 1999. The Bulldogs won the first two meetings and are looking to snap a two-meet losing streak to the Big Blue.
In other swimming and diving news, the Lady Bulldogs check in at No. 3, while the Bulldogs are tied at No. 10 in the initial College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) dual meet poll for this season. Auburn earned the top spot in both polls, as the defending SEC and NCAA champion Tigers garnered all eight first-place votes.
On the women’s side, Florida ranks second (191), Georgia third (182), Stanford fourth (177) and Southern Cal fifth (169). The Lady Bulldogs will face six teams ranked in the top 20, including the No. 2 Gators next week and again with top-ranked Auburn at the SEC Championships.
The Georgia men (125) are tied with Wisconsin for the No. 10 slot. Behind Auburn, Stanford (188), Texas (186), California (177) and Southern Cal (164) round out the top five. The Bulldogs will see action against eight teams in the top 25, including five in the top 10.
The CSCAA dual meet poll is conducted every two weeks throughout the collegiate season.
