Nashville, Tenn. ? Kentucky senior Maggie Gabelman earned medalist honors for the first time in her collegiate career, as she led the UK junior varsity women?s golf team to the team title at the Lady Tiger Intercollegiate on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Gabelman fired a two-round total of 157 at the par 72 Nashboro Golf Club in Nashville, Tenn. to capture first place.

All five Cats fared well at the tournament, placing in the top 12 among the 30 competitors. Ali Kicklighter shot a career-low 77 (158) on Tuesday to move one shot behind Gabelman and into a tie for second place, while Stacy Springer and Alanna Silvertrust charted top-10 performances by tying for fifth (163) and seventh (166) places, respectively. Laura Clemmons finished in a tie for 12th after shooting a 171 through 36 holes.

Belmont University came in second in the tournament and concluded play Tuesday 22 shots behind Kentucky. Radford?s Laura Terebey finished in a tie with Kicklighter for second place honors.

The varsity women?s golf team resumes action on Feb. 22, 2004, when they travel to Tucson, Ariz., for the NC State Spring Classic, which was originally slated to be played in Puerto Rico.
