Pinehurst, N.C. – The Kentucky women’s golf team finished in a tie for second place at the Ross Resorts Invitational Tuesday in Pinehurst, N.C. The Cats? Erin Faulkner led Kentucky in a tie for fifth place with a three-round total of 226 at the Mid Pines Golf Club.
In her best tournament as a freshman, Emily Culbertson finished fall play in a tie for eighth with a 12-over 228. All of Kentucky?s competitors took home top-25 finishes, as Marissa Muir came in at 23rd (235) and Katie Dixon and Eva Gessner tied for 24th (236) with final rounds of 78 Tuesday.
Darby Sligh from Alabama blistered through the competition, firing a tournament-low 68 on the final 18 holes to earn medalist honors at five shots under par. Carol Green, who came into the final round tied with Sligh, shot a 76 Tuesday and finished eight shots behind the leader in second place.
James Madison held steady through the final round to capture the team title. The Cats and Crimson Tide finished five shots back from JMU in a tie for second.
With the conclusion of the Ross Resorts Invitational, the Cats have rounded our their fall schedule. UK returns to action on Feb. 22-24 at the NC State Classic in Arizona.
