The University of Kentucky rifle team returns to action Friday morning in its second match of the season. The Cats take on Nebraska in its first of two matches in Fairbanks, Alas. Saturday, Kentucky will take on five-time defending NCAA champion Alaska-Fairbanks.

The Cats are coming off of an impressive victory at Ohio State two weekends ago in which each of the Cats’ two squads recorded higher team scores than the Buckeyes’ top squad. Senior All-American Bradley Wheeldon led the way with an 1173 in smallbore and a 394 in the air rifle event.

UK Coach Harry Mullins is looking for continued progression from his Wildcats.

“This gives us another chance to establish ourselves against top competition,” Mullins said. “We would like to raise our scores a little from our last time out and put ourselves in a favorable position at the end of the match.”
