Fresh off of a dominating 4-1 victory on Friday evening at Alabama, the Kentucky women’s soccer team (6-5-1, 4-0) gets set to take on defending SEC regular-season champion Auburn (8-2-2, 1-1-1) Sunday on live regional television. The Wildcats battle the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. EDT on SEC-TV via Fox Sports Net South, which can be seen live via Insight Communications, channel 52, in Lexington.

Kentucky (6-5-1, 4-0) journeys to the plains of Auburn with a four-match win streak in tow, during which the Cats have outscored their opponents by a 10-3 margin. After a four-match losing streak in September, the Cats have jumped out to the best start in conference play in the 12-year history of the program.

Sunday’s match marks a meeting between two of the premier Southeastern Conference strikers in Kentucky’s Elizabeth Ramsey and Auburn’s Sarah Steinmann, the reigning SEC Player of the Year. Ramsey has come out of the blocks quickly in conference play, registering three goals and three assists for nine points in only four matches. Ramsey’s score on a 25-yard free kick Friday evening in Tuscaloosa gives her six goals on the season to accompany her six assists. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Anne Ogundele has been equally strong for Kentucky, shutting out two opponents in four conference matches.

Auburn comes into Sunday’s match off of a 3-2 victory over Vanderbilt in Auburn. The Tigers recovered from a 2-0 halftime deficit to land their first victory in conference play.

“Auburn is a quality, well-prepared team,” UK Coach Warren Lipka said. “They had a great comeback last night against Vanderbilt, so they’ll be coming in with some momentum.”

Kentucky took the last meeting between the two schools two seasons ago in Lexington, knocking off the Tigers, 3-1. Kentucky owns a 6-2 all-time advantage against Auburn.
