TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team hits the road for the first of two consecutive weekends, as the Cats pay a visit to Alabama (7-5, 0-2) for a meeting with the Crimson Tide. Match time is 8 p.m. EDT at the Alabama Soccer Complex in Tuscaloosa.
Kentucky (5-5-1, 3-0) enters Friday’s match on a bit of a hot streak, having won three-consecutive matches. Since the Cats’ 4-0 loss on Sept. 21 at Arizona State, Kentucky has scored six goals and recorded two shutouts while only surrendering two goals. The Cats’ 3-0 start in conference play matches Kentucky’s best early showing in SEC action since the 2000 Wildcats won their first three conference matches.
UK senior Elizabeth Ramsey comes off of an outstanding weekend that earned her SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Ramsey scored the second of Kentucky’s two goals last Friday in the Cats’ shutout over LSU and broke Annie Gage’s career assists record in an overtime win against Arkansas with three assists while also tying her own single-game assists record.
Kentucky leads the all-time series with the Crimson Tide, 4-2. Alabama and Kentucky last met on the pitch two seasons ago in Lexington when UK recorded a 7-1 rout of the Tide. Live stats for Friday’s match can be found at www.rolltide.com.
