LEXINGTON – UK junior Tigran Martirosyan ran the table this weekend at the Charles Fluitt Invitational, completing his sensational run Sunday with a three-set victory over Andreas Lauland of Virginia Tech in the “A” flight final. Martirosyan won his fourth match in three days with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 decision over the 57th-ranked Lauland. On his way to the “A” Flight title, the unranked Martirosyan also defeated No. 44 Ryler DeHeart of Illinois, 6-4, 6-2.
Sunday did not go as well for UK sophomore Alex Hume, who dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Virginia Tech’s Soren Spanner. However, Hume also registered a significant victory over Illinois’ DeHeart Saturday, battling back for a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 triumph.
Next up for the Wildcats is a trip to Chattanooga, Tenn. next weekend for the All-American Pre-Qualifier event.
