Seattle, Wash. — The Wildcats (4-1-1) are set to battle the No. 22 Washington Huskies (4-0-1) Friday at 7 p.m. PDT, in its first game at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash. Kentucky is currently ranked No. 7 in the NSCAA/adidas Great Lakes poll and received votes for the College Soccer News Top-25.
UK is coming off its first loss of the season to Butler, 1-0, in the final game of the UK Invitational last weekend. The Cats hope to bounce back against a strong Husky team that enters the game as the only undefeated team in the Pac-10.
Kentucky and Washington will meet for the first time in history. The Wildcats come into the game with a 0.47 goals against average that is the ninth best in the NCAA. The Huskies average 2.4 goals per game.
UK is led by junior Jamal Shteiwi, who was named Mid-American Conference player of the week last week. Shteiwi has two goals and four assists to lead Kentucky in scoring through six games. Sophomore midfielder Leo Totev provides the biggest scoring threat for the Huskies. Totev has three goals and one assist in five games to lead Washington in scoring.
Kentucky faces Portland (3-5-0) in its second game of the Husky Classic, Sunday at 11 a.m. PDT.
