LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Wildcats’ (4-1-1) streak of five games without a defeat ended Sunday with a 1-0 loss to Butler University (3-2-1) in the final game of the UK Invitational.
Butler’s Jon Mariscalco scored the lone only goal when he fired a shot into the back right corner of the net 14 minutes into the game. Kentucky out shot Butler 8-1 in the second half, but was unable to score.
In the first game of the day, Louisville (4-2-0) won its second game of the UK Invitational when it dropped Central Florida (4-2-2), 1-0. Ryan Edwards scored the game-winner for the Cardinals in the 45th minute off an assist from Felipe Tolomelli and Jonathon Williams.
UK returns to action next weekend when it travels to Seattle, Wash. for the Husky Classic hosted by the University of Washington. Kentucky is set to face the Huskies on Friday and the University of Portland on Sunday.
