Sept. 19, 2003
The University of Kentucky cross country team returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 20, when it travels to Bowling Green, Ky., for the Western Kentucky Oldtimer’s Classic. The Cats, who have had a three-week break from competition, will compete against five teams on the women’s side in a 6k while the men face six other squads in a five-mile run.
The Cats are looking to build upon a solid performance at the Woodford Trials in which junior David Freeman and senior Caitlin Phillips each took first place honors. The duo was also impressive at last season’s Oldtimer’s Classic, which is only scored as individual results, as Freeman took second place and Phillips finished fourth in the annual event.
The two teams will compete starting at 11 p.m. EST at Kereiakes Park in Bowling Green. Complete results will be available after the meet at www.ukathletics.com.
