Drobney Sustains Broken Hand, Wilson Out: Sophomore tight end Jeremiah Drobney has sustained a broken right hand, Coach Rich Brooks announced after practice on Thursday.

Drobney injured the hand in practice on Wednesday and did not practice on Thursday. He will have a cast put on his hand on Friday and be available for action against Alabama. He has started both games this season and caught four passes for 36 yards. The backup tight ends are senior Win Gaffron III and redshirt freshman Bruce Fowler.

Coach Brooks also announced that sophomore cornerback Warren Wilson would not play against Alabama because of swelling in his knee. Wilson injured the knee in last Saturday’s win over Murray State.

Huff Might Return to Starting Lineup: After Thursday’s practice, Coach Rich Brooks noted that junior offensive tackle Matt Huff had a good week of practice and could return to the starting lineup against Alabama.

Huff started the opener against Louisville at left tackle, but did not start against Murray State. Jason Rollins started at left tackle against MSU and Nate VanSickel moved into Rollins’ normal slot at left guard. If Huff starts against the Crimson Tide, Rollins will return to left guard.

Ruth, Bernard are Game Captains: Junior kicker Clint Ruth and senior wide receiver Chris Bernard are the game captains this week, joining permanent captains Jared Lorenzen and Vincent “Sweet Pea” Burns.

Ruth, a kickoff specialist, has notched touchbacks on half of his kickoffs this season (five of 10). Bernard has caught three passes for 82 yards this season, including a career-long 60-yard touchdown play in last Saturday’s win over Murray State.
