FT. WAYNE, Ind. – The Kentucky women’s soccer team plays its final exhibition match Sunday afternoon when the Wildcats take on the Cincinnati Bearcats at the IPFW/adidas Soccer Showcase. The match is set for 1 p.m. EDT at the Hefner Soccer Fields in Ft. Wayne, Ind.

UK looks to turn the tables Sunday after the Bearcats knocked Kentucky out of the 2002 NCAA Tournament last November in a 1-0 loss in Knoxville, Tenn.

Kentucky enters Sunday’s match on a positive note after a 2-1 victory Friday evening at the Showcase over Ohio State. The Wildcats’ scoring was provided by a couple of Ohioans who grew up in the shadows of the OSU campus. Senior forward Heather Saas, a Dublin native, scored first and second-half goals and was assisted on both goals by senior forward Elizabeth Ramsey, a native of Hilliard. Redshirt freshman Anne Ogundele performed admirably between the posts for Kentucky, allowing only a late Buckeye goal.

Kentucky opens the regular season Friday, Aug. 29 against Davidson at the UK Soccer Complex.
