FT. WAYNE, Ind. – Senior forward Heather Saas scored first and second-half goals Friday evening to push Kentucky to a 2-1 victory over Ohio State in an exhibition match at the IPFW/adidas Soccer Showcase. The Cats have an exhibition match remaining Sunday against Cincinnati before opening up the regular season Friday, Aug. 29 against Davidson.

Saas, a Dublin, Ohio native, dented the net in the first period with some help from senior Elizabeth Ramsey. Ramsey stole a pass deep in Buckeye territory, then flipped to Saas, who beat goalkeeper Jen Heaney from 10 yards out.

A change in goalkeepers in the second half did little to deter Saas. The senior once again took a pass from Ramsey and beat goalkeeper Emily Haynam, this time beating the keeper on her left side.

Ohio State got on the board late in the match when Liz Mumley beat a diving Anne Ogundele to her right to cut the margin in half. But the Buckeyes could manage little else, as Ogundele secured a late cross in front of the goal to ensure the Kentucky win.
