LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky volleyball team will provide fans with a preview of the 2003 squad when it takes to the floor for the annual Blue/White scrimmage on Sunday, Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum. The event is free and open to the public.

Kentucky will open its 27th season of volleyball when it travels to Winston-Salem, N.C. on Friday, Aug. 29 for the two-day Wake Forest Demon Deacon Invitational. Kentucky will face host Wake Forest, Southern Methodist and Tennessee Tech. It marks the first of three early season tournaments, including UK’s own Kentucky Conference Challenge in Lexington, Sept. 12-13.

The Wildcats return eight players from last year’s squad which advanced to the SEC Tournament. Seniors Liz McCaslin, Sissy Canfield and Julie Davis will lead the team into battle this year. Four newcomers will debut for the Cats on Sunday, including Louisville native Jenni Casper, UK’s starting libero this season.

Coach Jona Braden enters her sixth season at the helm of the program, and is joined by assistant coaches Scott Carter and Katie Eiserman on the bench.
