Andr? Jones Officially a Wildcat: Andr? Jones, a defensive back/wide receiver from Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., has signed to play football at Kentucky, Coach Rich Brooks has announced.

The 6-0, 182-pound Jones originally signed with UK in Feb. 2002, but delayed enrollment until this year. He will report to campus with the entire team on Wednesday. A two-way player in high school, the coaching staff will take its first look at him as a defensive back.

High School: Originally signed with UK in Feb. 2002, but delayed enrollment until the fall of 2003 … Versatile performer with outstanding athletic skills … At various times, he played free safety, cornerback, wide receiver, running back, and returned punts and kickoffs for Choctawhatchee HS in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. … As a senior, he made 50 tackles, three interceptions, one fumble recovery, and blocked two kicks … Caught 10 passes for 128 yards … Averaged 30 yards on kickoff returns, including a 79-yarder for a touchdown … Averaged 18.3 yards on punt returns … During his junior season, he made four interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown … He averaged 19.2 yards on kickoff returns and 10.8 yards on punt returns … Two-year selection on the All-Northwest Florida team … Honorable-mention all-state as a senior … Selected to the “Gridiron Greats” all-star team … Team went to the second round of the Class AAAA playoffs during his junior season … Coached by Bobby Moore … A three-year letterman in track, where he competed in the 100- and 200-meter dash, the 4×100-meter relay, the long jump, and high jump … Most Valuable Player on the track team as a junior … Finished second in the district in the high jump and long jump … Won the Gatorade “Will to Win” Award … Picked Kentucky over Tulane, LSU, Auburn, and several others.

Players Report Wednesday: All of the Wildcats – incoming freshmen and returning players – will report to campus on Wednesday for equipment, physicals, and orientation meetings. Practice begins on Thursday.

Ticket Update: Here is the updated information on 2003 Kentucky football tickets.

Almost all of the single-game tickets for Louisville have been sold. Only scattered single tickets ($40 each) are available for that game.

Single-game tickets are available for the other six home games and are priced at $29 and $22.

Upper-deck sideline season tickets remain available at a cost of $214.

End-zone season tickets, under the auspices of the K Fund, are available. These are bench-back seats located underneath the suites. The tickets are $172 each and also require a scholarship donation to the K Fund.

“Split-Squad” Practice Format the First Five Days: During the first five days, when only one practice is allowed, the team will practice in a split-squad format. Players will be available for interviews after their groups are completed. Coaches will be available after Group II comes off the field. See the schedule below for times.
