Lexington, KY – The annual UK Football Fans’ Day is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9 at Commonwealth Stadium.The event begins at 5 p.m., outside the stadium with the debut of the Wildcat Refuge, an area of inflatable games. Gates 4 and 9 of the west end zone (Nicholasville Road side) will open at 7 p.m. and the first 2,000 fans will receive a gift bag, free hot dogs and Pepsi.
Prizes such as authentic football jerseys, helmets and trips to away games with the Wildcats will be given away, and posters and schedule cards will be available. The 2003 UK football media guide will be on sale for $10 each. The UK volleyball team also will be present to sign autographs.
“This day is for the fans,” Director of Football Marketing Jason Schlafer said. “We’ve been focusing on improving the fan experience, and this is a test run of what game day at Commonwealth Stadium will be like. This is a chance for our fans to meet the players and coaches in a fun and relaxed setting. The players look forward to this every year and we want to make this day as special as we can.”
The players and coaches will be introduced on the field at 7:30 p.m., and fans will be allowed on the field at 8 p.m. for autographs and photos. A fireworks show will conclude the event at 9 p.m.
A limited number of season tickets will be available to purchase at Fans’ Day. Single game tickets will not be available but the UK Ticket Office (in Memorial Coliseum) is open every day this week from 9 to 4 p.m. ET for purchases of single game tickets.
