COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Kentucky track and field team wrapped up five top-five finishes at the NCAA Mideast Track Regional on Saturday, May 31 at press time. Leading the way was junior Molly Lonergan, who finished fourth in the discus and Olubusola Adeagbo, who took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles.
Other top performances included a fifth-place showing by junior Jean Balan in the 800 meters with a time of 1:50.75. Teammate Chad Johnson was seventh in the event with a finish in 1:51.54. Beth Heimann finished seventh for the women in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:06.81.
Also doing well in the women’s discus were Ildiko Varga, who took sixth place with a throw of 158-11.00, and Gennessa Guzman in ninth place with her 152-10.00 toss.
In the men’s 1,500 meters, Hunter Spencer finished sixth after crossing the line in 3:50.35, while teammate Thomas Morgan took fifth-place honors in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:13.02.
Simidele Adeagbo finished fifth in the women’s triple jump with a leap of 42-11.00 to wrap up UK’s list of competitors. The Wildcats await the final list of NCAA Championship qualifiers on Monday, June 2.
