The Kentucky baseball team will host two non-conference opponents this week, as it takes on Lipscomb University on Tuesday, April 29, and Eastern Kentucky University on Wed., April 30. Game time is set for 6 p.m. EST at Cliff Hagan Stadium both days.
Kentucky (18-24, 6-14 SEC) won its second consecutive conference series this past weekend when it took two-of-three from Georgia (21-22, 5-16 SEC). The Cats downed the Bulldogs, 8-1 and 9-4, on Saturday before missing the chance to sweep with a 12-0 loss on Sunday. With the series win, UK moved ahead of Georgia into fifth place in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division standings.
Lipscomb University (15-28) lost two-of-three to Mississippi Valley over the weekend. The Bisons defeated UK last season, 6-2, in Lexington. Lipscomb holds a 4-1 advantage over UK in the all-time series between the two schools.
Eastern Kentucky (19-18, 6-5 OVC) lost two-of-three to Eastern Illinois over the weekend, including a 27-17 decision on Saturday. The Colonels surrendered 46 runs in the three-game series. Kentucky fell to Eastern Illinois, 4-3, earlier in the season. UK holds a commanding 62-24-1 advantage in the series with EKU. The Cats defeated the Colonels, 13-4, last season. Kentucky has won four in a row over Eastern.
The Cats will send Mark Galvin (2-2) to the mound on Tuesday against Lipscomb. Wednesday’s starter is yet to be determined.
