Lexington, Ky. –

The Kentucky baseball team (16-23, 4-13 SEC) will play host to the Georgia Bulldogs (21-20, 4-14 SEC) this weekend, April 25-27. The Wildcats are looking to build on the momentum they gained last week when they took two-of-three from then-Southeastern Conference Eastern Division leading Tennessee. The series win was the first in conference play for UK since May of 2002.

Georgia was impressive in winning two games against ranked opponents this past week, including an 8-4 defeat of No. 4 Georgia Tech on Wed., April 23. Last weekend, the Bulldogs lost two-of-three to Florida, as Kentucky moved ahead of Georgia into fifth place in the Eastern Division. Georgia has not won a conference series thus far in 2003.

Kentucky trails Georgia, 78-104-1, in the all-time series between the two schools. The Bulldogs have won five of the last six meetings, including a three-game sweep last season in Athens. Georgia took three one-run games from the Cats, by scores of, 5-4, 6-5 and 7-6.

First pitch on Friday, April 25, is set for 7 p.m. EST at Cliff Hagan Stadium. UK will send senior Scott Wade (2-4), the reigning SEC Pitcher of the Week, to the mound. He will be opposed by UGA’s Sean Ruthven (3-4). Game times for Saturday and Sunday will be 4 p.m. EST and 2 p.m. EST, respectively. All the action can be heard on 96.1 FM with Friday’s broadcast being on a delayed basis, while Saturday and Sunday are both live.
