Kentucky and Louisville will renew their rivalry on the baseball diamond with a game on Tuesday, April 22, at Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville. The two teams will meet for the 82nd time on the baseball field. Kentucky holds a 52-28-1 advantage in the series. The last meeting came in 2001, with Louisville winning, 8-3, in Lexington. Kentucky swept a home-and-home series from the Cards in 2000.

The Wildcats (16-22, 4-13 SEC) are looking to build on the momentum they gained from their first Southeastern Conference series win in over two years this past weekend when they took two-of-three from Tennessee. Kentucky won the opener of that series on Friday, April 18, 1-0, behind a complete game shutout performance from starter Scott Wade, good enough to earn him the SEC Pitcher of the Week award. Kentucky then took the Saturday contest from the Volunteers, 4-1, as Joe Naill went 3-for-3 from the plate and Heath Castle picked up his third consecutive conference win on the mound. The Cats just missed a sweep of the Volunteers, falling 9-8 in the series finale on Sunday.

Louisville (23-13, 9-8 C-USA) enters the contest having won five of its last seven games. The Cardinals are led by Josh Bolen’s .403 batting average, five home runs and 33 runs batted in. U of L opened the year at 6-0, and won eight of its first 10, but is just 15-11 since then.
