The Kentucky baseball team will play host to Tennessee this weekend, Friday, April 18, through Sunday, April 20. The Wildcats (14-21, 2-12 SEC) are in search of a win after two consecutive losses, including a 3-2 decision they dropped at Western Kentucky (19-13, 5-6 Sun Belt) on Wednesday, April 16. Kentucky won its second conference game of the season last weekend, taking one-of-three from the nation’s 23rd-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa.
Tennessee (22-14, 7-8 SEC) enters the weekend as the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division leaders after taking two-of-three from Georgia last weekend in Knoxville. The Volunteers added non-conference wins over East Tennessee State and UNC-Asheville this past week.
Tennessee leads Kentucky, 137-129, in the all-time series between the two schools. The Volunteers took two-of-three from the Cats last season in Knoxville. Kentucky won the weekend wrap-up, 6-1, after falling by scores of 12-7 and 16-10. UK has lost five of its3 last six contests against UT.
The Cats will send senior Scott Wade (1-4) to the mound on Friday. He will be opposed by Tennessee junior Ben Riley (3-2). Game time is set for 6 p.m. EST from Cliff Hagan Stadium on the UK campus. All the action can be heard live at www.ukathletics.com, or on a delayed basis on 96.1 FM.
