The University of Kentucky men’s golf team will play in the 17-team Robert Kepler Intercollegiate golf tournament this weekend in Columbus, Ohio. The tournament, being played at the par 72, 7,250-yard Ohio State Scarlet Course, will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The teams will play 36 holes on the first day and 18 on Sunday.
Teams joining UK in the field will be: Ohio State, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Marshall, Miami (OH), Ohio, Toledo, Kansas State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Kent State, Purdue and Northwestern.
“This will be a good tune up for us,” Coach Brian Craig said. “We’ve been near the top in several tournaments this year. Hopefully we can finish this one on a high note and have gain some momentum heading into the SEC Championship.”
This will be the final tournament for the Cats before competing in the Southeastern Conference Men’s Golf Championship, Apr. 25-27. Making the trip for UK will be senior Ryan Coyne, sophomores Mark Blakefield, John Holmes and Brandon Waldrop, and freshman Matt Kohn. Kentucky is coming off of a second-place finish at last week’s Marshall Invitational, where Kohn walked away with individual honors. The Cats have finished in the top 5 in six of their 10 tournaments this year.
