Senior Julia Gore will be the lone GymKat to represent the University of Kentucky at the NCAA Central Region Championship on Saturday, April 12, at 7 p.m. ET at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Gore, the highest ranked all-arounder whose team did not qualify for the Regional Championship, will compete as an individual with the Chippewas of Central Michigan.
The Pflugerville, Texas, native will begin the evening on a bye before competing on the uneven bars and balance beam. Following another break, Gore and the Chippewas will move to the floor exercise and then close the evening on vault.
Other teams competing in the event will include host Alabama, Oklahoma, Auburn, Kent State and Michigan State. Individuals from Ball State, Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan will also be featured in the event.
The top two teams in the competition will automatically qualify for NCAA Nationals, April 24-26 in Nebraska. The top two all-arounders whose team does not advance will also be invited to Nationals, along with up to four event winners.
