ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team finished off its regular season with a 16th-place showing at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga. UK carded a three-day total of 945, amounting to 81-over par. The Cats finished 69 strokes behind tournament-champion Duke. The Blue Devils’ Elizabeth Janangelo took top-individual honors.

The Wildcats were led by senior Rachel Lester, who carded a nine-over 81 to place 34th for the tournament. Lester’s team-leading finish was her ninth top-50 showing of the season, making her the only Wildcat to finish in the top 50 of each tournament this season.

Senior Kelly Anders and sophomore Lauren George shot Kentucky’s best rounds of the day, each carding an eight-over 80. Anders shot 22-over for the tournament, good for a tie for 66th place, and George’s 23-over for the tournament landed her in a tie for 69th place.

The Cats will now take time off to prepare for the SEC Championships, set for April 18-20 at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington.
