2003 Spring Schedule

The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team will open its 2003 spring match schedule on Friday, April 4, in Louisville, Ky., with a pair of scrimmages against IUPUI and the host Cardinals. The Wildcats will play a total of nine games this spring, all in the month of April.

Kentucky will also travel to Bluefield, W.Va., to face Wake Forest and West Virginia University on April 6 before returning home to host events on April 13, 23 and 27. Opponents scheduled to visit Lexington this spring include Xavier, Dayton, Bellarmine, Centre and the Rio Soccer Club.

Kentucky is coming off its 10th winning season in only 12 years as a varsity program. Coach Ian Collins loses six seniors off of last year’s squad, but returns a lot of fire power, including Jamal Shteiwi, the team’s leading scorer in 2002. Andy Gruenebaum, who started the final seven games of the season, also will return between the pipes for the Wildcats.
