NASHVILLE, Tenn. – CBS Sports received permission Thursday from the NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee to adjust the game times at the Tampa and Nashville second-round sites that play on Sunday, March 23.
Therefore, the South bracket winners of Friday’s first-round action — Xavier vs. Troy State, Maryland vs. UNC Wilmington — will tip off at 4:40 p.m. ET, more than two hours later than orginally scheduled.
The second game featuring the winners of the Midwest Region games — Kentucky vs. IUPUI, Oregon vs. Utah — will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game, approximately 7:10 p.m. ET.
The times were altered due to the war in Iraq and its 24-hour coverage by CBS News. The games are part of a quadruple double-header that CBS Sports will air, pre-empting the long-running 60 Minutes program for the first time.
