Lexington, Ky. –
The University of Kentucky baseball team (4-5, 0-0 SEC) will open its 2003 home schedule with a tilt against the East Tennessee State Bucs (4-6, 0-0 SC) on Wednesday, March 5th.
Kentucky enters the game at 4-5, having lost its last two games, both in extra innings. The Cats fell to Eastern Illinois, 4-3, on Saturday, March 1, and dropped a 3-2 decision to Alabama-Birmingham on Sunday, March 2. The Cats have played the last three weekends in tournaments at Stetson University, The Citadel and Alabama-Birmingham, respectively.
“After three consecutive weekends on the road, we’re looking forward to playing at home,” Coach Keith Madison said. “We’ve lost two hard-fought games in a row and we’re ready to get back on the field against East Tennessee State.”
The Bucs come to Kentucky in the midst of a four-game losing streak. They were swept by Mississippi State last weekend in Starkville, Miss, by scores of 7-0, 10-1 and 11-4.
The game is slated for a 2 p.m. start at Cliff Hagan Stadium, on the UK campus.
