Women's Gymnastics

The University of Kentucky gymnastics team will travel to Provo, Utah, the home of Brigham Young University, to take part in a dual meet on Friday, Feb. 28, at 9 p.m. ET at the Marriott Center. The GymKats are coming off their most impressive performance of the season, last weekend at Auburn where UK posted a team total of 195.525.

Senior Julia Gore won the all-around in that meet, posting a career-high score of 39.375 in the all-around while also hitting season-highs on three events. Kentucky and BYU faced off earlier this season in Lexington, with the GymKats defeating the then-No. 16 Cougars by a score of 194.075-192.475. Senior Melanie Zaharias placed first on floor and beam, while junior Aronda Primault won vault and Gore was victorious on bars.

The meet is important for the GymKats, who are competing in only their third away meet of the 2003 season. At this point in the season, teams cannot be ranked without a minimum of three away scores. Therefore, UK’s score in Provo will be automatically used to calculate their regional qualifying score for Monday’s poll.
