The NCAA has announced its selections for the NCAA Rifle Championships, and once again, the University of Kentucky rifle team will be part of the competition March 14 and 15 in West Point, N.Y. The Rifle Cats qualified for championship competition in both the smallbore and air rifle events, and junior Bradley Wheeldon qualified for individual competition in both events.

The individual smallbore and air rifle competitions will take place on Friday, March 14, and the team competitions are set for Saturday, March 15.

Kentucky Coach Harry Mullins is excited about getting back to the NCAA Rifle Championships.

“I’ve had a lot of confidence in this group of student-athletes all along, and it’s nice to see them get rewarded for all the work they have put in this season. Hopefully we can produce a strong showing at West Point,” Mullins said.

Kentucky has finished as the NCAA runner-up the past two seasons.
