Fayetteville, Ark. – The University of Kentucky track & field program earned five more spots at the NCAA Indoor Championships as Beth Heimann qualified in the women’s 800 meters and the men’s distance medley relay team of Kris Landers, Chad Johnson, James Doaty and David Freeman earned a spot in the final day of the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.

Heimann’s time of 2:05.87 placed her fifth in the event, while the distance medley relay team claimed the event title for the Wildcats. Also performing well for UK on Saturday were Hunter Spencer, who claimed sixth place in the men’s invitational mile with a time of 4:01.12, a provisional qualifying mark, and Thomas Morgan, who took ninth in the men’s 5,000 meters with a time of 14:07.51.

UK returns to action on Saturday, March 1 when they open competition in the 2003 Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships. The Cats will then travel to South Bend, Ind., for the Alex Wilson Invitational before competing in the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, March 14-15.
