The University of Kentucky rifle team got back to its winning ways Saturday, February 1 in defeating Rose-Hulman 6049-5987 at Buell Armory on the UK campus. Kentucky’s commanding victory in the smallbore event was enough to offset Rose-Hulman’s victory in air rifle.

Freshman Brad Donoho and junior Robert Krukoski led Kentucky in smallbore with scores of 1145 each, while junior Melody Cook led the Rifle Cats with a 379 in air rifle.

Kentucky Coach Harry Mullins was pleased with the victory over Rose-Hulman.

“I felt that the team performed well today. We worked hard and learned a lot about what we need to do this week to get ready for the NCAA qualifier,” Mullins said.

Kentucky will now prepare for the NCAA Sectionals next Sunday, February 9 at Murray State in hopes of advancing to the NCAA Rifle Championship next month in West Point, N.Y.
