Lexington, Ky. –
Jennifer Humphrey scored a career-high 20 points and Jenny Pfeiffer added 17 as the University of Kentucky women’s basketball team overwhelmed Morris Brown, 106-32, in Memorial Coliseum Monday night. It was the second-straight win for the Wildcats (5-4), while the Lady Wolverines remain winless at 0-11.

Morris Brown controlled the opening tip and Disheca Smith converted on a short jumper along the baseline to give the Lady Wolverines their only lead of the game at 19:42. From there, the Cats dominated both ends of the court, forcing 15 turnovers and holding MBC to 7-of-34 from the floor (21 percent) in the first half. At the break, UK led 51-17 as nine different Wildcats posted points in the scoring column.

“We came out with a lot of confidence after our performance over Miami on Saturday,” UK Coach Bernadette Mattox said. “We got a lot of different looks from our players and I thought we did a great job of staying focused and intense. We didn’t let up and that’s what I’m looking for us to do on a consistent basis.”

Humphrey led the Cats’ offensive arsenal collecting 18 first-half points and grabbing 10 rebounds to give the freshman center her second-consecutive double-double performance. The Memphis, Tenn., native also grabbed a career-high 13 boards, answering her 15-point, 11-rebound performance in UK’s thrilling 108-102 comeback win over Miami (Ohio) on Dec. 21. Walk-on Jennifer Goin also looked impressive, recording her first double-double of the season with career highs in points (10) and rebounds (10). SeSe Helm had 15 points while Rita Adams and Keiko Tate score 10 points each. Adams also dished out eight assists, six steals and two blocks in the game. All 11 UK players scored in the winning effort. Juniors Shambrica Jones and Jenerrie did not see action due to injuries.

For the game, Morris Brown shot 21 percent on 13-of-36 from the floor and connected on 1-of-14 shots (7.14 percent) from behind the arc. Freshman guard Sheena Carpenter was the only Lady Wolverine in double figures with 10 points. The Wildcats forced a season-high 32 turnovers while shooting 45-of-86 (52.3 percent) and 4-of-10 (40.0 percent) from three-point range. From the line, MBU went 10-of-19 and UK drained 12-of-19.

The 74-point win margin marked the second-largest in UK women’s basketball history with the record of 77 being set on Nov. 24, 1989 in a 121-45 defeat of Kentucky State. The 106-point output coupled with Saturday’s 108 performance is the first back-to-back 100-point outings since 1990.

The Wildcats will break for the Christmas holiday and will return to action on New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 3 p.m. ET as they play host to Cincinnati at Memorial Coliseum.
