TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – University of Kentucky women’s cross country junior Caitlin Phillips finished 126th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Monday, Nov. 25. More than 250 runners competed in the 5k race at the Wabash Family Sports Center.
Phillips crossed the finish line with a time of 21:29.80. She was the only Wildcat to run in the title event, after finishing 18th at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Nov. 16. North Carolina’s Shalane Flanagan took home first-place honors with a time of 19:36.00. BYU won the women’s team title.
The NCAA meet concludes the 2002 season. Phillips and the Wildcats will now turn their attention to the indoor track & field season, which opens on Saturday, Jan. 18 with the Kentucky Invitational in Lexington, Ky. The all-day event takes place at the Nutter Field House on the campus of UK.
