Kentucky men’s golf Coach Brian Craig announced the signing of two recruits on Thursday, Nov. 14. Cale Barr and Brad Doster will join the Wildcat squad in the fall of 2003.
Barr, a Versailles, Ky., native and Lexington Christian Academy student, is an outstanding golfer who brings a lot of potential to the Cats. He is a two-time Kentucky Golf Association Junior Player of the Year, 2000 and 2001, and two-time Kentucky Junior State Champion, also in 2000 and 2001. He finished his American Junior Golf Association career with five top-five finishes and was named a 2001 AJGA All-American. He has won an overall total of 94 junior golf tournaments.
“The day cannot come soon enough for Cale to join our team,” Craig said. “He is one of the most accomplished junior golfers ever to come out of Kentucky. He has proved he can excel at the highest level and his passion for the game is amazing.
“The combination of his character, work ethic and experience will make him a tremendous asset to the Wildcat family.”
Doster, a Winter Park, Fla., native, was a multi-sport athlete at Winter Park High School. He also lettered in volleyball and lacrosse. He won the 2002 High School District Tournament and finished second in the 2002 AJGA Tournament at Abacoa Golf Club and the 2002 National Open High School Championship on his way to earning High School All-America honors.
“Brad’s fundamentals and tenacious competitive spirit make his upside unlimited,” Craig said. “He is coming off a terrific summer of golf against national competition and I am confident his best golf is still ahead of him.
“I am especially looking forward to the leadership qualities and excellent academics Brad will bring to the Wildcat men’s golf family.”
