Peachtree City, Ga. – The Southeastern Conference Coaches Fall Classic women’s tennis tournament in Peachtree City, Ga., was cancelled on Sunday after two days of rainy weather. The cancellation wiped out title matches in all consolation and main draws in both singles and doubles.
For UK, the two women most affected by the termination of play were freshman Shannon Stough and sophomore Danielle Petrisko. Both were scheduled to play for consolation singles titles in their respective brackets.
In other action, Stough and fellow freshman Kacie Anson both won quality matches over the course of the weekend.
“Kacie and Shannon played some good matches,” UK Assistant Coach Carlos Drada said. “They both beat quality opponents who are expected to be very good players.”
This tournament and the national indoor tournament in Dallas, Texas, were the last tournaments of the fall for the UK women’s tennis team. They will begin the dual match season on Jan. 8, 2003, at the Milwaukee Classic in Wisconsin.
