Dallas, Texas – Kentucky’s Amy Trefethen and Jill Buckley were defeated in the doubles consolation final at the Omni Hotels Intercollegiate National Indoor Championships on Saturday at the Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas, Texas.

Facing Stanford’s Lauren Barnikow and Erin Burdette, Trefethen and Buckley played an excellent match, but Barnikow and Burdette were able to break their serve in the 12th game. The Stanford duo served out the match to win by a final score of 8-5.

Barnikow and Burdette are ranked fifth in the nation in doubles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, Buckley and Trefethen are No. 41.

“This was an excellent match,” Coach Mark Guilbeau said. “I’m very happy with the level of play from Jill and Amy. This match was a good sign of the level they have reached as a doubles team.”

Buckley and Trefethen finished the fall season with a record of 10-4, which included wins in the finals of the Lady Seminole Classic and the Southeast Regional Championships.
