Pacific Palisades, Calif. – Three UK women’s tennis players were unable to advance to the main draw of the ITA/Riviera All-American Tournament being played at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Senior Sarah Witten was knocked out in the second round of the qualifying portion of the tournament, 6-1, 6-2, by Stanford’s Amber Liu. Witten defeated Pauline Janis of UNLV in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, to reach the second round.

Senior Amy Trefethen and freshman Nathalie Roels were each defeated in the first round of qualifying. Trefethen lost to Mari Toro (Miami (Fla.)), 6-3, 6-4, and Roels was downed by Oklahoma’s Anda Perianu, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Both women won their first round matches in the consolation bracket.

UK is still alive in the qualifying round of the doubles bracket.
